Social

Anchored by our purpose and values, Monjasa embraces the diversity of people, backgrounds and perspectives to attract and develop talent that can strengthen our business and form the backbone of sustainable evolution. This is why we will continue to put health and safety, inclusion, equal opportunities for everyone and opportunities for development high on our agenda.

DEVELOPING OUR COLLEAGUES

Monjasa focuses on being a globally attractive employer that develops and retains talent. We do so by investing in the continuous development and retention of our colleagues to ensure their continued engagement in creating a great workplace. Through the Monjasa Academy and our digital learning offerings and development activities, we equip our people with the skills they need to embrace future challenges and opportunities.

Equally important, we also place emphasis on attracting and cultivating a pipeline of talent through the Monjasa Oil & Shipping Trainee (MOST) programme.

PROMOTING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Monjasa is committed to cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace, where everyone can bring their whole selves to work and feel a sense of belonging. We continue to build awareness through inclusive measures such as cultural awareness and psychological safety workshops, and by mitigating biases through education.

At Monjasa, we continually strengthen our commitment to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees, contractors and the communities in which we operate. Our Integrated Management System, certified to ISO 45001:2018, remains a cornerstone in driving consistent improvements across our global operations and offices.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Monjasa maintains a zero-tolerance stance against modern slavery and human trafficking, recognising these as severe violations of fundamental human rights. We are committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking by implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard our business and our supply chain against any form of Modern Slavery.

In 2023, Monjasa implemented a Modern Slavery Policy in alignment with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 across the Monjasa Group.

ENGAGING LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Assuming social responsibility has been a part of the Monjasa Group for years, and it is an integral part of our corporate purpose to give back to the local communities in which we operate.

In recent years, Monjasa has engaged in civil society partnerships and non-profit-making projects, particularly focusing on children and young people, such as FANT. A strong collaboration between FANT and Monjasa has resulted in the Connected Leadership programme, an immersive leadership journey based in Sierra Leone that promotes participants’ self-awareness and reflections on their purpose and impact.

We remain committed to supporting community development across our core markets. Our approach currently consists of three focus areas: ‘Developing Maritime Talent’ through cadetship programmes across regions, ‘Leveraging Industry Partnerships’ and ‘Advancing Community Well-being’.
