Since 2002, Monjasa has been fuelling global trade by being closely connected to shipowners and market developments. We want to be part of shipping’s energy transition by helping pave the way for solutions that can lower the impact of the shipping industry and enable more responsible trade, while improving our own environmental impact through energy efficiency improvements in our operations.
Managing Environmental Impact
To manage the environmental impact of our operations, we focus on understanding our role in the value chain and continuously evaluating Monjasa’s global and local impact.
We have established a CO₂ emissions baseline and provide customers with emissions reporting in line with the GHG Protocol, alongside documentation solutions supporting audit and current GHG reporting requirements for low-carbon fuel deliveries. Looking ahead, we continue to endorse the 2023 International Maritime Organization (IMO) GHG Strategy, while eagerly awaiting clarity on implementation measures in the adoption of the Net Zero Framework.
Progress Towards Our Targets
To mitigate our carbon footprint, we have initiated a transition plan across our operations, including our fleet and offices, to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, prioritising energy efficiency measures in line with our ISO 50001 certification.
While we continue to develop these plans, the pace and level of detail depend on evolving regulatory frameworks. Our targets are aligned with the IMO 2023 Strategy, and further clarity on implementation measures will be required to define a detailed roadmap towards our 2030 target and long-term net-zero objective.
Ensuring Zero Oil Spills
Our commitment to zero significant oil spills remains steadfast. As part of Monjasa’s ISO 14002:2015 Environmental Management System, we are committed to preventing pollution by controlling any release into the environment resulting from our operations. To support this, we conduct regular oil spill drills in collaboration with our technical ship management company, Montec, and local maritime authorities in our key supply areas.
