Environment

Since 2002, Monjasa has been fuelling global trade by being closely connected to shipowners and market developments. We want to be part of shipping’s green transition by helping pave the way for new low-carbon fuels in the industry and improving our own environmental impact through energy efficiency improvements in our operation.

Managing Environmental Impact

To manage the environmental impact of our operations, we focus on two main areas. Firstly, we need to understand our role in the ecosystems we participate in and evaluate Monjasa’s global and local impact.

We have already established a CO2 emission baseline and are now issuing CO2 emissions reports to customers, covering the entire process from well to wake. Additionally, our future targets will align with IMO, EU, and other relevant regulatory standards.

Developing Transition Plans

To mitigate our carbon footprint, we are in the process of developing transition plans for our fleet. These plans will focus on initiatives to achieve our scope 1 2030 target and path towards becoming net zero by 2050.

By aligning our targets with the MEPC 83 outcomes, we ensure our decarbonisation efforts meet the latest regulatory frameworks and industry standards, providing a realistic outlook for a gradual transition to a low-carbon fleet.

Zero Oil Spills

Our commitment to zero significant oil spills remains steadfast. To ensure Monjasa’s operations are prepared for potential oil spills, we actively conduct drills in collaboration with our technical ship management company, Montec, and local maritime authorities in our key supply areas.
