Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies Award 2022

In oil and shipping we often spotlight global trade developments and showcase vessels and logistical solutions. On the contrary, less attention is given to all the power that propels the industry from the inside and allows us to safely manoeuvre forward.

However, on 14 June 2022 in Copenhagen, Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies programme in Denmark recognised excellence by looking into key management functions. As an award nominee, Monjasa was evaluated and in the end recognised by the jury for how we operates, ranging from how we are governed, how we drive compliance, to how we generally manage our company and set a culture that is conducive to our purpose.

“Being recognised among Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies reflects our continuous efforts in running a responsible business”

Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies Award is part of a global initiative and involves private owned companies exclusively.

Recognised for running a responsible business

For the 6th consecutive year, Monjasa is recording an increasing demand for our global marine fuels services. In fact, from supplying 3.5m tonnes in 2017, Monjasa has increased total volume by 63% in five years earning a solid position among the world’s top 10 largest marine fuel suppliers.

This development can only be earned by establishing an operating model that matches the demands of customers and even goes beyond their expectations.

In 2014, Monjasa became the first company in the bunker industry to introduce ISO management quality standards backing our operating model. Since then, industry leading compliance efforts coupled with sound financial governance and vetting procedures have become the corner stones in how Monjasa operates today.

Group COO, Svend Stenberg Mølholt said:

“Being recognised among Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies reflects our continuous efforts in running a responsible business. Monjasa means personal business, but at the same we are very focused on providing transparency and documenting all steps in our operating model. Our next challenge will be to support the green shipping transition by becoming an enabler in the logistics of future fuels, which must be seamlessly integrated with our current operating model.”

What the jury highlighted

Among the reasons behind this recognition, the jury highlighted “a comprehensive Responsibility framework with distinctive goals for the company.”

In 2021, The Monjasa Group presented a new and extended Responsibility framework as a response to global challenges that require joint and prioritised management efforts. As an example, this work included complete and transparent carbon accounts, as well as the industry’s first customer CO2-reporting linked to each individual fuel order placed with Monjasa.
