Academy keeps Monjasa on its toes

At Monjasa, employees are encouraged to continuously update their knowledge and develop their professional skills. The Monjasa Academy offers just that. Latest through two new customised programs “Bunker Knowledge” and “Basic Management Education”, both launched in 2015.

“It is paramount that our employees keep developing their skill set and that they remain experts within marine fuels trading. The Monjasa Academy has therefore put together a 4-day program designed to provide our employees with in-depth theoretical knowledge as well as with practical know-how of bunker operations,” explains Tracy Palm, Head of HR Services at Monjasa Europe.

In the last “Bunker Knowledge” program, 14 participants were introduced to everything from lectures on refinery operations at Shell to witnessing a truck supply of gas oil to a tug boat, inspecting a Monjasa bunker tanker – and even conducting fuel oil quality tests themselves.

It is paramount that our employees keep developing their skill set and that they remain experts within marine fuels trading.

Training global leadership skills

Furthermore, Monjasa recently invited 15 team leaders from across its international offices to a 3-day course in basic management skills.

“The management education course has started out as quite a success, forging a common identity between the team leaders across countries and departments. The program gives the team leaders a clear idea of Monjasa’s leadership culture and valuable input from feedback and coaching sessions.

The program also includes a team-building event, which involved all participants taking part in a charity challenge. The group managed to raise USD 10,000 to a local charity organisation in a few hours’ time,” tells Tracy Palm.

Overall, Monjasa Academy conducted 2,804 hours of internal training in 2015.
