Opening new office in Panama

Jan 6, 2015

A growing client base in Central- and South America calls for our daily presence in the area. As part of our group strategy of expanding bunkering activities worldwide, we are therefore pleased and proud to announce that we are establishing a new office in Panama City.

The office will be located just 30 minutes from the port of Balboa and we expect to open up the doors during March 2015.

New opportunities for our business partners

“We started up bunkering services in the Panama Canal in February 2014 and we will be launching other services in South America soon. For our clients and supplies, our local presence provides new opportunities for close daily cooperation and further strengthens our local knowledge.

Initially, we expect the office to be composed by five to ten bunker traders and back-office functions. However, this is only the beginning. We are looking to expand our services further in this area and we built our optimism on the positive market response received, says General Manager for Monjasa Americas, Rasmus Jacobsen and continues.

"Besides being one of the world’s biggest hubs for ship traffic, Panama brings numerous operational advantages. These include access to competent workers at globally competitive terms and an attractive infrastructure allowing short distances and multiple flight connections to the biggest Latin American airports,” Rasmus Jacobsen concludes.

In connection with our expanding operations, Rasmus Jacobsen relocates from our US-based office in Stamford to Panama City and remains responsible for Monjasa Americas as a one time zone region.
