10 new Monjasa Oil & Shipping Trainees fuelling global trade

Monjasa presents the fourth consecutive batch of Monjasa Oil & Shipping Trainees (MOST) since launching the programme in 2018. This year, the academic foundation has been further strengthened and together with rotations among Monjasa’s global offices, the programme keeps attracting an increasing number of young candidates.

Monjasa experiences an increasing interest from candidates applying to join the company’s two-year trainee programme. In fact, since 2019, the number of applicants has jumped from around 400 to 1,000+ this year.

Besides proven career paths, part of the explanation for this positive development is that Monjasa now offers traineeships across all main offices. This year, the new batch of trainees embarks on the Monjasa journey in Dubai, Singapore, Panama, Denmark (Fredericia and Copenhagen), Vietnam and the US.

“A robust academic foundation is a cornerstone for our trainees to navigate the oil and shipping industries.”

Oil and shipping calls for specialised people

With no obvious recruitment channels for the specialised bunkering industry, the purpose of the MOST programme is to bridge the gap between industry expectations and the people fuelling the industry of the future.

By educating and grooming a specialised workforce, Monjasa’s trainees are able to support customers and suppliers from an early stage of employment and industry feedback has been very encouraging so far.

Group COO, Svend Stenberg Mølholt:

“A robust academic foundation is a cornerstone for our trainees to navigate the oil and shipping industries. This year, we have been working closely with Danish Shipping and fellow ship owning companies to further strengthen and adapt the Danish Shipping Education to the economic and legal frameworks our industry faces today. We believe that the Danish Shipping Education provides the right ballast for the next generation of maritime professionals and the increasing number of applicants for the MOST programme reflects the attractive mix of quality education and hands on experience.”
